The School of Theatre & Dance announces six new certificate programs in Entertainment Arts & Technologies.  Beginning in fall 2005, Kent State University will proudly offer one of the countries only certification programs in the Entertainment Arts & Technologies.  Each certificate consists of twenty credit hours and they may be taken with or without being in a degree program.

These unique certificates offer motivated students a distinct advantage in starting careers in the entertainment industry.  Each option provides students the opportunities to gain the knowledge and skills necessary to enter the entertainment industry.  The School of Theatre and Dance is dedicated to improving the education, safety and skills of those working in the industry.

Certificate Programs

One may earn any of the certificates listed below within our Bachelor of Arts in theatre studies or by themselves as a specially admitted nondegree student.

Each certificate consists of six courses which include practical production experience and real-world internships in addition to specially selected courses in theatre and video technology.  Completing the certificates earns students 20 credit hours towards their Bachelor of Arts degree.  Two certificates may be taken within that degree program.

Registration Instructions

Incoming students must declare their intention to pursue a certificate(s) in Entertainment Arts and Technologies upon first being admitted to Kent State University by letting both the School of Theatre & Dance and the Placement, Advising and Scheduling System (PASS) advisers know of their desire to register for certificates.
