Theatre Training
Entertainment Arts and Technology

Since the fall semester of 2005, Kent State University has proudly offered one of the countries only certification programs in the field of Entertainment Arts & Technologies. These unique certificates offer motivated students a distinct advantage in starting careers in the entertainment industry. Each certificate consists of six courses which include practical production experience and real-world internships in addition to specially selected courses in theatre and video technology. One may earn any of the certificates within our Bachelor of Arts in theatre studies or by themselves as a specially admitted nondegree student. Completing the certificates earns students 20 credit hours towards their Bachelor of Arts degree. Two certificates may be taken within that degree program. Incoming students must declare their intention to pursue certification programs upon first being admitted to Kent State University by letting both the School of Theatre & Dance along with the PASS (Placement, Advising and Scheduling System) advisers know of their desire to register for certificates.
Many job and career opportunities exist for individuals certified in areas of Entertainment Arts & Technologies including:
- Live Stage Productions
- Nationally touring rock concerts
- Sports Entertainment

- Outdoor and Indoor Theme Parks
- Professional Athletic Venues
