Coming in 2010 to the
School of Theatre and Dance!

The Roe Green Center
at Kent State University

The School of Theatre and Dance was fortunate to receive the largest capital donation in the history of Kent State University. Through the generosity of the Roe Green Foundation, the School's divisions of Theatre and Dance will be united under one roof. Ms. Green's $6.5 million gift will enable our students to learn in state of the art classrooms, studios and labs. It will allow both dance and theatre students in the school to collaborate in new and exciting ways in a performance space dedicated to student creative projects and new works.

Students will see not only improvements to current facilities but also new construction. New and improved facilities will include:

o A new “Black Box Theatre” for Student Creative Projects
o New Dance Studios and support facilities including locker rooms and rehab studio
o New Acting Studios
o A new Lighting Laboratory with Intelligent Lighting
o New Classrooms
o New Design Studio
o Vocal Coaching Rooms
o Scenery, Properties and Costume construction facilities
o Welding Laboratory
o New Computer Lab and Digital Media Studio

Designed by the architectural firm of Holzman Moss with the theatre consulting firm of Davis Crossfield, construction will begin in the Summer of 2008 with the expected completion in 2010.  There are still a number of opportunities for naming labs, classrooms and studios.  For more information, please contact Cynthia Stillings at cstillin@kent.edu.
