William Ian Auld has been involved in theater - performing, touring and working technically - for the last twenty years. In addition to his duties teaching as Assistant Professor of Theater at Kent State Tuscarawas Campus and working within the new Performing Arts Center just opened there, he is also a Flying Director for Hall Associates Flying Effects; a company specializing in performer rigging, wire work and the flying of performers on wires for live productions, recorded media and with circus arts events. He is one of only a few hundred people in the world who operate at this on an professional international level and one of only a few dozen people in the world that are currently recognized as a Certified Trainer as well as being a certified Rigger for Theater by the Entertainment Technician Certification Program.
Professionally he has worked in dozens of countries all over the world from all parts of North America to Asia, to Europe. He served as Technical Director for the Lookingglass Theater Company in Chicago, Venue Technician at the La Jolla Playhouse in San Diego and as a Flying Director at the Istana Budaya National Theater in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia at the behest of the Malaysian Royal Family.
Amongst all this work in theater, however, he spent several happy years of his life jumping out of perfectly good airplanes with the United States Army Airborne Corps; Special Operations.
